The inaugural Colchester Soapbox Rally took place on High Street, transforming the town center into a vibrant hub of excitement and activity. The dedicated team from Think Live played a pivotal role in the event’s success from its inception. They meticulously managed various aspects, including designing and placing obstacles, setting up cameras, handling sound engineering (both along High Street and for the townwide screens), orchestrating large LED screen displays at strategic locations, and creating on-screen graphic packages. The entire event was broadcast to a global audience through a live stream on Facebook.
To ensure comprehensive race coverage, an Outside Broadcast (OB) truck served as the operational base near the launch ramp. This allowed for the deployment of eight strategically positioned cameras along the course, including a dynamic live feed from a drone, effectively capturing all the thrilling action. Notably, the cameras at the starting and finishing lines were equipped with wireless capabilities, enabling close-up, personal shots of the action.
Audio reinforcement, expertly managed by Simon and his team, provided comprehensive sound coverage throughout the racecourse, enhancing the overall viewing experience for both on-site spectators and online viewers via the live stream.
To further elevate the event’s appeal, custom structures were meticulously constructed at the finish line, and a specialized Kart-Wash facility was established along the course. This Kart-Wash featured foam machines that ensured the karts were thoroughly cleaned and ready for another exhilarating run down the course.
